A group of minutemen were told to leave Lexington, as they did someone fired a shot that is known as "the shot heard 'round the world." Both sides started to shoot after that shot. When they had stoped eight colonist were killed and ten wounded.
The battles of Lexington and Concord were important because they were the first battles of the Revolutionary War. Lexington was not a full-fledged battle, but only a skirmish. An advance guard of six companies of the British Regular Army entered the town at sunrise on April 19, 1775. About 80 Lexington militiamen under the leadership of Captain John Parker stood in ranks on the village common. No one is sure who fired the first shot. Eight Massachusetts men were killed and ten were wounded. None of the British soldiers was killed and only one was wounded. Colonel James Barrett led the militia in the town of Concord. He first marched toward the British, but when he saw the colonials were outnumbered almost three to one, he wisely withdrew to a hillside outside of town, expecting that he would receive reinforcements as the day progressed. Militiamen from many nearby villages arrived until the colonials had a force of about 2,000. They routed the first group of British troops, who retreated down the road heading back to Boston. The militia continued to shoot at them along the way.

booThe other answer: The Minutemen of the Revolutionary War period were American volunteer soldiers (militia). They had civilian occupations, but were trained to be ready to fight, ostensibly "at a minute's notice." They represented a rapid response force to any British attempt at armed sorties. On April 19, 1775, Minuteman and Sons of Liberty member Paul Revere spread the news that "the Redcoats are coming." Paul Revere was captured before completing his mission, but later escaped. After a skirmish in Lexington, the British marched towards the arsenal in Concord to collect the weapons stored there, only to meet and exchange fire with a superior colonial militia force (including Minutemen). The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the first armed conflicts between the two sides, and led to the Siege of Boston, which penned up the British garrison in the city.* Both an anticommunist group of the 1960s (led by Robert DePugh) and a civil vigilance group of the 21st century (Minuteman Civil Defense Corps) took their names from this earlier organization.

The first American victory came at the Battle of Concord, which followed the skirmish at the Battle of Lexington, on April 19, 1775.British forces from Boston, who were out to confiscate weapons in Concord, fired against a small group of militia gathered in Lexington, closer to Boston. As the British continued east and searched Concord, riders (including Paul Revere) had alerted the colonial militia, which fired upon and routed the British. As they fled back to Lexington with their main force, the Redcoats were joined by a rescue party, and the entire column was pursued and fired upon enroute back to Boston by a force of up to 3800 militiamen. With the arrival of thousands more of the Minutemen from the area, the Siege of Boston began.concordnovember 5th,2009

In the Revolutionary Period of America's history, the April 1775 battles of Lexington and Concord provoked diverse reactions among American colonists. Some reacted with apathy, some were surely filled with fear about what would happen next, while others (Loyalists) reacted with disapproval of the American hostilities. The most influential group, however, reacted with fervent patriotism: in support of the Americans who stood their ground at those first battles of the Revolution, they took up arms and otherwise prepared to join the War for Independence.
The purpose of the battle of Lexington and Concord was so that the Lexington's side could get everything that wanted on the Concord's side and the Concord's side could get everything that they wanted on the Lexington's side. But they never finished because they all died because they were all horny and wanted sex and couldn't take it anymore so they cut off their dicks.
