Why did god make life hard for us?

It is not God who makes life hard. A hard life starts with incompetent parents bringing children into this world and not having the financial, social, cultural and emotional ability to efficiently cater to their needs. A hard life is also the result of greedy selfish individuals who suppress and dominate others for their personal aggrandizement.

With regard to the above answer. all I can say is 'hear, hear!' So many people these days blame God when things go wrong when the blame lies fairly and squarely at their own doorsteps. We have poverty in the world, famine, disease and so on not because 'God wills it', but for millennia we have had a world where the rich oppress the poor, and the rich take nore than their fair share of the world's resources. We live in a world where people in the US complain when fuel prices rise and it gets a little expensive to fill their gas-guzzling vehicles where more efficient, smaller cars would conserve energy and release funds for the poor; we live in a world where Paris Hilton gives her cats te best mineral water at $20 a bottle or more, when the majority of the world have no clead drinking water whatsoever; we live in a world where people complain about a little raised tax in the USA so that Barack Obama can provide health care not only for those who can afford insurance, but for everyone. In short, when life gets hard, don't blame 'God' but ask yourselg what can you do to sort things out - not just for yourself but for the many who are even less fortunate than you.

In the interest of a balanced point of view, I would like to offer the opposite viewpoint here. Firstly, I'm appalled at the attempt to politicize religion and spirituality. If governments would stop playing Robin Hood, stop stealing from the rich to incentivize and subsidize poverty, and stop crushing the lives and dreams of its people with its dastardly size and weight, then none of this would even be an issue. But back to the religious/spiritual question at hand: I have always believed that if life were easy, it wouldn't be worth living. I believe that each of our lives present certain unique challenges that we must overcome in order to "make it". In respect to the above answer(s), I believe that the failure of parents and society do not make life hard, but are instead responsible for failure to meet the challenges of a hard-by-design life. Our happiness is dependent on our success at meeting those challenges. In that respect, we are each responsible for our own destiny, and no amount of circumstantial excuse-making can relieve us of that responsibility.
