The North did not like the way Whites in the South treated those enslaved.

The men, women, and children who were enslaved thought it was wrong because they were separated from their families, forced to work for little to nothing, deprived an education, tormented, humiliated, raped, hung, etc. They were considered property instead of human beings.

For the most part, slavery was for field work and cheap labor.
