Plains tribes became hunters following the Buffalo herds and they did plant small plots of crops while Northwestern tribes were fishing and hunting in the Pacific Northwest. California tribes were hunters and gathers as well as fishing the streams and Coastlines. The tribes of the southeast were using the forests and swamps for hunting, fishing, and planting crops. Northeastern tribes also used the forests very well, planted crops, hunted and fished.
