To live a life as a true Catholic requires effort, it is not always an easy life. People are always looking for an easier way to do things and some thought Protestantism would simplify their religion for them. Some were upset about some of the abuses within the Church at the time but, rather than demanding that corrections be made, they left. When the Church did reform many decided to stay Protestant where life was easier - no fasting, abstaining, no sacraments to prepare for. No worry about performing good works. Simply 'believe,' and relax. You will be 'saved.'

Others, especially in England, were in fear for their lives if they did not join Henry VIII's Church and swear allegiance to him. Heads were rolling in the Tower of London.

What was the Movement began by martin Luther that protested some teachings of the catholic church?

First off, it's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church. . Secondly, Martin Luther never started a movement to reform the Catholic Church, Martin Luther LEFT the Catholic Church to start his own Church. Which is a completely different thing. That is commonly mislabeled as the protestant reformation, Catholics refer to it as the protestant revolt.
