The Seventh Century was a time of great change in Europe and the Mid-east as Islam began to become aggressive and would eventually supplant across the Middle East and Northern Africa, which had previously been two strong Catholic areas. The Third Council of Constantinople met in 680-681 defining the two natures of Christ. The monasteries flourished and the Christianization of England and Germany proceeded at a great pace.
