The Dutch settled in North America because the Dutch government wanted to find a new route to the Indies as well as find any uncharted areas. The Dutch started two settlements, New Netherlands and New Amsterdam.
The reason they colonized is because they wanted land in the new world. They saw that the Spanish were getting rich from the land and the animal in the new world. They saw a chance to do the same.
The Dutch came to Connecticut for a few reasons. They mainly came to this area for trade and because of various religious and political issues with the Puritans.
