The French had a friendlier relationship with the Native Americans than the Spanish did because the French did not force the Native Americans off of the land. They also did not try to convert them to any other religion.

As a general statement, people from France were honest and kept their word (promises) as well as dealt fairly; in fact today you can find many Native Tribes in the Northern US and Canada with French tribal names, as well as language influences.

Why did some Native Americans trust the French more than the English during the French and Indian war?

Some of them sided with the French and some of them sided with the British. I believe more of them sided with the French because the French were not as interested in expanding and settling westward as the Bristish colonists were, and therefore encroached on fewer Native American tribes' lands. They were on good terms with those tribes for that reason. However, as a whole the Native Americans were divided amongst themselves as to which side they should support. The British had native allies, too.

Why did many Native Americans side with the French in the French and Indian War?

The French colonies were less of a threat than British colonizers. The French had mostly small outposts of trappers and traders. The British colonies had exploded in population since their establishment and were clearly looking to expand into lands that the Native Americans currently occupied. The style of British colonies did not have any place for Native Americans. This was clear when the British commander in charge of fighting the French, General Braddock, was asked by Shingas (a local leader of the Delaware Indians) whether the tribes who allied with Britain would be allowed to live and trade with the English and have land of their own. General Braddock replied that "No Savage Should Inherit the Land"

How did the French and the British colonies in Canada differ from the Spanish colonies in Mexico and South America?

The biggest differences is in how the three treated the Native Americans. The French treated Native Americans with more respect and many French lived with the natives. They traded with them and had good relationships. The British thought of the Native Americans as a problem from the start and felt that they should leave the land to the British. They did their best to kill them or drive them out of their native areas. The Spanish were even worse. They enslaved the Native Americans that they encountered. The missions they set up still have the mass graves of the Natives that worked on the missions grounds.

How did French colonization differ from English colonization?

The French had mainly come to America in search of fur and fish. They had pretty good relations with the Native Americans, because they would constantly trade and fraternize with them. The English -on the other hand, did not have good relations with the Native Americans. The English came to the Americas just to establish the colonies, they wanted the competition. Since the English held the world's best and largest navy, acquiring new lands would be to their advantage.
