The German Nazi party lost the war because they did not defeat the British military and failed to sign a peace treaty regarding their rivalry. The German leader Adolf Hitler put operation Barbossa into play (Nazi invasion in Stalingrad)but he did not send his troops in with winter clothing because he felt strongly that his general that commanded their forces would take Stalingrad easily. When the harsh winter of Russia came they were not ready and most were to frozen to fight or died of hypothermia, frostbite, or extreme exposure to coldness. The soviet forces took them easily and the operation of Barbossa soon came to an end.The German forces were eradicated in Seelow heights,Germany, which cut off most food supply to German troops in other locations because Seelow heights was the main food supplier in Germany because they raised wheat fields.Wheat or bread was the ideal food source for a soldier. The U.S military took the beachhead in Normandy,France which was a heavy defeat for Germany.Soviet troops soon took Berlin through many battles. They arrived at the Reich stag of Berlin,Germany the German forces were willing to fight for their lives to defend their last defense. They destroyed part of the Reich stag and left the rest in ruins. The Russians mounted their flag on top of the Reich stag and declared victory. The German Nazi leader Adolf Hitler later took deadly poison or a 357.magnum to the head. With the loss of the German leader the Nazi party dissipated and had to surrender.those are a few reasons why the German army lost the war.

AnswerThis answer presumes the question relates to the Second World War.

For a general overview of the reasons why the Axis alliance lost World War 2, see the question "Why did the Axis lose the war?"

There are many reasons behind Germany's loss. Besides the strategic reasons listed under the question above, here are some specific examples of contributions to the German loss:

  • Failure to defeat Britain (or, at least, sign a negotiated peace treaty) before starting the Russian campaign. This forced Germany to fight a classic two-front war, which is extremely draining and dangerous. It also opened the door for the United States to ally with Britain and thus enter the war as an enemy.
  • Failure of good planning for Operation Barbarossa (the invasion of Russia). Overtly optimistic schedules combined with a late start to the campaign and a lack of respect for the Soviet Union to absorb punishment and continue fighting. In addition, poor choice of strategic targets in the campaign - overemphasis on capturing cities vs destroying Soviet forces and industry.
  • Continual interference with German military strategy by Hitler and senior Nazi officials. Hitler's strategic vision was both ambitious and usually right (given his goals), but his continual tactical meddling with German military operational decisions was disastrous (e.g. Stalingrad, which was due almost exclusively to Hitler's interference with Von Paulus' tactical decisions).
  • Failure to efficiently organize German industrial production for the war effort. Centralized production planning was not even implemented until 1942. In addition, over-reliance on force labor (people from occupied countries and captured prisoner) resulted in poor industrial performance. Additionally, German designs were overtly technically complex, resulting in low production numbers.
  • Failure to recognize that Allied cryptographers had broken most German Enigma signals. Failure to secure their communications resulted in the Allies being able to strategically outmaneuver their German adversaries at virtually every turn. The most significant result here was the complete botching of the response to the Normandy invasion.
  • Failure of Hitler to consider the possibility of accepting a negotiated peace treaty with the USSR in 1943 or 1944. A negotiated peace with the USSR would have allowed Germany to triple the forces fighting the US/UK side.
  • Declaring war on the USA after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Germany's treaty obligations required that they declare war should the Japanese be attacked by someone, not if the Japanese were the aggressors. It is likely that the USA would not have declared war on Germany, instead remaining a "belligerent neutral". This would have significantly enhanced Germany's ability to defeat the USSR, since without the USA, Britain would be unlikely to be able to threaten a cross-channel invasion, thus freeing up significant military resources in Western Europe for use on the Eastern Front. Not to mention keeping the USA's massive industrial production output from being used directly against Germany.
  • Failure to capture the Suez Canal. Not providing sufficient support for the Afrika Korps to overrun Egypt allowed Britain to maintain its vital supply line to and from India and the Far East.
  • Failure to continue unrestricted submarine warfare around the U.K. in 1941. Under pressure from the USA about sinkings of neutral shipping, Germany slowed the U-Boat attacks. As the British had not yet found an effective counter to U-Boats, they were in severe danger of being starved into submission. Estimates are that Britain would have been forced to surrender in mid-1941 should the U-boats have received the full support of the German war effort.
  • Hilter's fascination with high-tech toys rather than practical war-winning machines. The V-weapons were expensive, time-consuming, and of very little military value. Hitler continually promoted the production of fancy weapons over more prosaic (but more useful) ones. The deployment of the ME-262 was delayed over a year by Hitler in favor of the useless Avero Ar-234 light bomber; a jet fighter in 1943 would have decimated the Allied bombers, as Allied fighters were unable to sufficiently combat them even in 1944, when they had a huge numerical advantage (and many of the German Aces had been killed by 1944). Another example was funding for the Kriegsmarine was erratic, and often spent on ineffective surface ships rather than u-boats and long-range recon aircraft.
  • Failure to seal the Mediterranean Sea. No concerted efforts seems have been made to base aircraft/ships/u-boats in Morocco or to force Spain to aid in the closure of the Straits of Gibraltar. Allowing the Mediterranean to remain a contested battlefield allowed the Allies to force Germany into a draining campaign, and ultimately allowed for the Allied invasions of North Africa, Italy, and southern France.

Like their partner Japan, Germany was OUT-PRODUCED by the United States. While Germany & Japan were running out of submarines and aircraft carriers (and pilots to man them), the US built and put into service 10 times more the the dwindling Axis Powers could. The axis was greatly out-produced with ALL war material, including men.
