This is incorrect. The Iran-Iraq War was the longest war in the 20th century at 8 years and was only resolved by UNSC Resolution 598 since the money to fund the war was running low.

What were the effects of Nuclear War?

The effects of the only nuclear war ever fought were roughly 200,000 Japanese dead and 2 Japanese cities destroyed. The war last only 3 days and consumed only 2 bombs (a third was being prepared for use a few weeks later if Japan did not surrender). Bombs are larger now and there are plenty of them ready to go. So its impossible to predict effects of another nuclear war, except that it will be far worse.
