Why did the KKK want to kill the Catholics?

The KKK posits itself as a Protestant group.

Given the history between Catholics and Protestants, it is natural that the group would hate Catholics; given its militant doctrine of hatred and placing a single racial-religious group as above all others, it is obvious that the group would prefer to kill Catholics.

I am born and raised Catholic with Slovak descent and the reason they wanted to kill us and still do is because the KKK thinks that our pope is a dictator which he's not so they just wan to get rid of us in fact my grandpa was threat end by the KKK and they put a burning cross in the middle of his yard but this was a different time it was before Martin Luther King completed his dream also he said that back in those days that it wasn't just the blacks that went through oppression if you were non white or if they found out that you were Catholic or Jewish you wouldn't be allowed to go into certain places so ya theres your answer.
