Rome had been actively trading with the Britons since the time of Julius Cesar. Recently coins have been found dated from 50 years before the famous 43 AD "invasion" which proves that at least part of Britain was familiar to the Romans. Rome also had a treaty with the southern tribes of Britain and sent troops initially to help one of their allies. Britain also had tin and silver resources in addition to timber that Rome eyed. However the most pressing reason for Rome to invade Britain was to boost the image of Claudius. Remember Rome was a militaristic society. Their leader had to have had military experience of some type in order to be credible. Claudius had none. The easy takeover of Britain was ideal to prove to the home folks that their present Caesar was capable of invading a territory and annexing it as a province.

For wealth, power, and resources. The same reason the conquered so many other lands. Also, at the time, what we know today as Britain was still untamed mountains with "Indian" like people, basically natives. those people groups did not pose as much of a threat to the Roman people.

hope this does you well.
