The Colonists were angered by the Stamp Act because they did not want to pay more taxes for other stamps. While Great Britain still needed to pay off the rest of there debt for the French and Indian War (Seven Years War) the Colonists had their own problems and wanted to be an independent country, they wanted to fend for themselves, not pay a tax, besides, the British also stamped playing cards, and there wasn't anything to do back then besides work and play cards, so wouldn't you be mad if your new set of cards had a giant stamp on the Queen of Hearts? Well at that time England was govened by a king (King George) and his Parliament. The Parliament represented the people's opinions and discussed things with the King, and the king made the final decision. When the king issued the Stamp Act, it was not the tax itself that angered them, it was the fact that nobody had asked what they wanted. Parliament was supposed to dothat for them: delegates should have gone to Parliament to represent what the people wanted. But the colonies were not allowed that right. Also, the colonists were smart enough to know that because England was so far away, and because it was so small, and because soldiers there were not familiar with the colonies' land and terrain, they might be able to revolt and get away with it. That's why what happened did in the late 1700's.

Because 1.) The colonists had already been taxed enormously and 2.) They were not given adequate representation in parliament to oppose the measure.
