Because many people were becoming very ill very quickly and in most cases it was un curable, few people knew about medical treatments and had no idea what had caused the plague or how to stop it from spreading.

"Yersentis Pestis", better known as the Bubonic or Black plague, ran rampant through the world from 1347-1350, with subsequent outbreaks reoccurring at approximately 20 year intervals for the next one hundred years. The disease is still present but treatable if identified early. It is commonly found among colonies of burrowing animals such as prairie dog communities. It can be transmitted through fleas, who are infected, through their bites to humans.

The plague is probably "the" most significant natural disaster to have occurred in mankind's' history. Estimates of human losses range from a low of 25% of the world's population to as high as 60% in some cities and regions of the time. It changed history creating a middle class and catapulting Europe out of its feudalistic system. The entire world was affected, but records among eastern societies and civilizations are "sketchy" and not available, however, it had an occidental origin so most certainly decimated civilizations in eastern Asia. Its contagious properties which include pneumonic and blood borne vectors made people, who were generally living in unsanitary conditions, highly susceptible.

The black death was so horrible because there was nothing that could have been done to cure it. the black death came in 3 forms- Bubonic Plague, septicemic plague and pneumonic plague. the bubonic plague appeared as boils, septicemic appeared as black spots on the body and the pneumonic plague made the victim not breathe properly and the victim would spit up sputum tinted with blood. it was all very painful if you had black death, you would be locked up until you die because it was very contagious and people were scared of getting it. even if children had it; young babies, their mothers wouldn't stay to help them- the majority of mothers left their children on the road side because they didn't want to catch it. It has said that this was the worst pandemic in history, killing over 20 million people from the years 1348-1350.

The Black Death caused a lot fear in the Eastern and Western worlds. Most of this fear was caused by the destruction of many businesses, the collapse of cities and the chuch. Many people panicked because there was nothing that they could do.
