They had no representation in the Parliament in England. They had no say in what acts were passed for the colonies. The saying "no taxation without representation" became popular in Propaganda throughout the colonies.
because they lost the war and they were in dept. they had to make money by taxing the colonists. the colonist thought that this act was very unfair because they had no say
The colonists, like all citizens everyplace, always paid tax. It was not anything "begun". They paid them in Britan, or where ever else they came from, before coming to North America. Many paid substantially more.
Taxes are paid for army, and police, and education and all types of services....all of which the colonists needed a large amount of.
What they objected to was paying MORE tax (on some things) than the other citizens of England did.
Now you decide - was that objection justified?
Didn't the colonists require for say tea from china, more protection of HMS Navy to get it here than there? Didn't it cost more, and they needed more for the English army to stay here and protect them from the natives than in their homes over there?
It effect them by not getting more money
Cause they had no representation of the taxation
Native Americans Indians were exempt from the British tax laws
They resented having to pay taxes without the ability to participate in government. Hence the saying "No taxation without representation". ---- American colonists felt that the taxes that they had to pay were unfair because of a few reasons. Every little thing was being taxed, including stamps, tea, food, and trade. What was most frustrating was that there was nothing they could do about it. And it was clear that they did not want to pay without having some say in what is going on with these taxes, thus the term was said, "No taxation without representation." Did you know that the first government of the United States failed? ~Apple Juice
Because Britain is the one that gave him the authority to be governor.
The colonists felt Parliament had no right to tax them because they were not able to vote for members of Parliament. This sentiment was expressed with the popular phrase, 'no taxation without representation.'
The colonists felt that the tax laws should be passed only by their colonial representation. "No taxation without representation" became a rallying cry of the colonists.
she did not fell good
I think they are stupid and unfair.
they felt it was unfair to be taxed without representation, and at the time, the distance between Great Britain and the new colonies made it easier for them to feel like they should be their own country, and govern themselves and not be held under the Kings rule
they were angry
they felt upset and angry
