The same type of people live in China as live in Hong Kong or Singapore. Those in Hong Kong or Singapore are much better off than those in China. The difference is the legal system. Hong Kong and Singapore have an English legal system. China has a corrupt License Raj legal system. (Greece also has a corrupt License Raj Legal System.) When a corrupt government makes it difficult to make a living, people live in poverty.
