Balboa became an explorer because of the success of Christopher Columbus. He settled down with the money he earned from his first voyages, but he ended up in debt, which eventually forced him to return to his explorations.

Vasco Nunez de Balboa was one of the first people to settle in the new found land America. He started to farm borrowing a lot of money from other people. But farming wasn't exactly the best career choice for Vasco. He owed a lot of people mony, instead paying them he stowed away on a ship carrying food goods.
