Probably because they were what was available.

Most were captured and sold to the slavers by other cultures. The slavers then transported them to places where there was a market for cheap labor.

when white people started going over to Africa the saw the people who lived there as something less than human and so were thought to be "slave worthy". there is no other reason really if there is then i don't know...........

because they had no one else to use. they instructed workers to go to africa and collect as many people as they could find to use as slaves. these people happened to be Africans...
