Why didn't Israel want Palestine to be considered its own country?

I assume that you are referring by the attempts by the Palestinian Authority in 2011 and since to gain the official designation of statehood in the United Nations. (If you are referring to a different period in time, please resubmit the question clarifying the time period.) The reason that Israel opposes this is because it is an attempt by the Palestinians to gain more rights in the international community without negotiating with Israel. Israel had no issue in the world recognizing the PLO as the representative of the Palestinian people in 1993 because that recognition came out of agreements made with Israel for the creation of a peaceful and sustainable Middle East. By contrast, the attempt of Palestine to gain statehood in the United Nations has been orchestrated in order to use the International Court of Justice to police Israel's conduct in the Occupied Territories as opposed to negotiating the development of a functional state in Palestine that can actually provide for Israel's security (as well as for Palestinians' long term self-governance with fear of paramilitaries/terrorists).
