The US government was extremely paranoid about any form of communism, to the point where red flags were banned for several years (a law overturned later). This paranoia and fear spread to the people, and anything remotely resembling support for communism was heavily crushed.
Another PerspectiveAmerica was founded, and its people have prospered, because of principles that are antithetical to communism. That is to say, America is based upon valuing the the individual and the recognition of the individual's right to perceive his/her rational self interest. It recognizes that a free marketplace of goods, services, and ideas is the only way to ensure individual liberty, and that individual liberty is not just a goal to be achieved, but is the only system that is consonant with the true nature of man qua man.
Oh, now there's a concept. The very idea of Communism in the US is beyond imagination. I think it is fair to say the US political perspective is a choice of the right wing of the political spectrum & the extreme right wing of the political spectrum. Vested political & financial institutions like it that way & I think it's the way it has been & it will stay that way for a few days to come.....
