Greed for money. In England, William Wilberforce and Captain John Newton's song; Amazing Grace, helped to put an end to slavery in England. In the USA, a country that said; "All men are created equal", greed for the love of money, made slavery a fact of life until the Civil War (1861 - 1865), President Abraham Lincoln, and Frederick Douglas brought it to an end. Legal racial, segragation laws were still a fact of American life until the 1950s and 1960s, thanks to the likes of President Harry Truman, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr, and President Lydon B. Johnson, and the USA Supreme Court.
