As with most Western cultures, the patriarchal power structure ensured that women were inferior and not entitled to the same rights as men.
Some of the arguments employed by anti-suffragists include:
Because women were considered a second class citizen and if politicians gave women the right to vote, they would loose a great amount of male votes.
Women didn't always have the right to vote because they were considered objects; lesser than men. Thus, they weren't allowed to vote because they were concluded as ignorant. They also didn't know much about politics.
There were trained to, basically, cook, wash, mother, walk, and talk. That's about it. To some women were considered to be a worker not a voter people felt that they knew nothing about politics. So what they did was keep them in the house as a mother and cook and cleaner.
Because before, women were being discriminated. Women were not allowed to work or even study. The society before viewed the women as weak. People before did not see women to be important so that is why they neglect women the right of suffrage. They do not see them educated or might as well, they did not see the as worthy.

Historically, and in most nations prior to the 19th century and into the 20th century, women were denied the right to vote. Additionally, males in many monarchies were also denied the right to vote.
In the United States, there were opportunities for higher levels of education that were offered to Protestant women attending Catholic schools. This was practiced in New England colonies and later US states. Forward looking families therefore sent their daughters to these institutions.
Most Protestant families, however, would not allow their daughters to attend institutions of higher learning, especially in the New England colonies and later in New England states.
well there are a lot of reasons:
a) Men viewed women as inferior to them.
b) Men thought that if women had the vote, colonial people would demand it too.
c) Women were not educated, they din't really need to be.
d) Men thought they knew what women needed and could express woments needs in parliament.
e) Women were supposed to stay home, clean the house, cook the dinner and raise the children, not go out and do "man's work"
Please do not view this as sexist. Infact I am female so, you know.
