Saber toothed cats like smilodon went extinct 10,000 years ago. At that time, there was nothing humans could do.
Scientists still don't know what caused the extinction of saber toothed cats. Interestingly, however, the last saber toothed cats Iived in the Americas. They died out around 10,000 years ago, which coincides with the arrival of humans. Maybe it is a coincidence, but I don't think it is.
