I do not think that I am allowed to alter the question, so I suggest that that it might read "Why do some people believe in heaven and hell?". The original seems to say that all did at one time believe.

Now to answer as best I can. Because all men have been given the spirit of Christ, that is to know right from wrong. Also because Christ and Satan teach contrary to one another, one representing the blessings of heaven, the other representing that state He is in, that of unhappiness or Hell. Both places do exist, the one to ever lasting happiness, the other to ever lasting misery. The wise person believes that both are real, and they will be subject to either one.

Jewish Answer

We don't believe in the existence of either heaven or hell. Judaism barely spends any time discussing what may or may not happen when we die, in fact, there's barely any mention of this subject in the Tanach (Jewish Bible) at all.

There are some loose theories of what might happen though:

* When we die, our souls are cleansed of any wrongdoings. This is done by our accounting of every action done in life. It's believed that this process takes no longer than 12 months but most people don't do enough bad in life to warrant it taking a full 12 months.

* Our souls return to HaShem to wait for the world to come.

* Our souls may be reincarnated into different people so that we have additional chances to work to become closer to HaShem.

* Those souls that choose to be truly evil in life, cannot survive the process of cleansing and cease to exist.

Because Jesus Christ talked over and over again about heaven and hell. Jews had not metioned heaven and hell prior to Jesus. So for Jesus to talk about heaven and hell was something new.

Answer:

Like most humans, 'christians' believe what they were brought up to believe from family, friends, schooling and churches. This doesn't make it always right.

Christians have varying ideas of heaven and hell. Few realize that the Scripture mentions 3 Heavens and uses 4 words for Hell. Some of the translations also confuse these words.

Concerning Heaven, The Bible speaks of the sky; the universe; and the very Throne of God called the highest Heaven - a spiritual world. Hell is most commonly translated from the Hebrew 'sheol' and the equivalent Greek 'hades' and simply means the grave or pit. Then there is the special place of restraint for the fallen angels 'tartaroo, tartarus' used only once in 2 Peter 2:4. Last place translated hell is 'gehenna' a garbage dump outside the city that was continually on fire and had so many new flies (maggots) that the Scripture says 'the worm does not die...' (Isaiah 66:24; Mark 9:44). The gehenna fire is the Lake of Fire in the Scripture in the end-times.

As hard as it may be to believe, but the Bible clearly tells us that only Jesus ever ascended into Heaven (John 3:13). Not Enoch or Elijah as many point to. They went into the 1st heaven or transported in the sky. Scripture cannot be against itself. God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33).

The Children of Israel knew of these things in the Old Testament. Here is an example:

Psalm 139:8New King James Version (NKJV)

8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; (God's Throne)

If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. (The Grave)

Believe it or not, most Christians today believe in the heaven and hell the writer Dante created in his 'Divine Comedy' and was incorporated into Church teachings. It is not biblical but of man's imagination.

Answer:

We as Christians believe in Heaven because Jesus said that He was going there to prepare a place for us (John 14:2) and because of the passages such as Revelation 5 that describe Heaven and the throne room of God.

If you were to die today, do you know if you would go to Heaven? The Holy Bible reads "for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23) and "for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Rom. 6:23). The Bible also reads, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Acts 2:21). And you're a "whosoever" right? Of course you are; all of us are.

Quick prayer for you: Father God, bless each person who reads this with a long and healthy life. Jesus, do a quick work in their heart; make Yourself real to them. If they have never called upon Your name, I pray that they will do so today.

If you would like to receive the gift that God has for you today, and know for sure that you're going to Heaven, say this with your heart and lips out loud. "Dear Lord Jesus, come into my heart. Forgive me of my sin. Wash me and cleanse me. Set me free. Jesus, thank You that You died for me. I believe that You are risen from the dead and that You're coming back again for me. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. Give me a passion for the lost, a hunger for the things of God and a holy boldness to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm saved; I'm born again, I'm forgiven and I'm on my way to Heaven because I have Jesus in my heart."

If you said that prayer, then as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, I tell you today that all of your sins are forgiven. Always remember to run to God and not from God because He loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.
They believe that because it's in the bible.

The Holy Bible was inspired by God. Christians believe the Bible is God's Word. In the Bible we are told that there is an Heaven and a Hell. Christians believe that people who accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior will eventually go to heaven. People who do not believe in Jesus Christ will eventually go to hell. God has told us of heaven and hell and we believe what He says.

What is hell how is it What is heaven how is it?

Many Christians believe that Hell is the place where evil-doers and those who did not accept Jesus Christ will go at the end of time. Views on what it is like vary from it simply being a place without God to being a burning pit, where sinners are tormented for their evil deeds; it is also said to be the dwelling place of Satan, the father of lies. (It should be noted that not all Christians believe that non-Christians are condemned to hell, but some Christians do in fact believe this.) Heaven is where Christians believe that those who have been good and led a life in accordance with God's teachings, will go to at the end of time. Some Christians believe only other Christians will go there. Some Christians believe that all people who led a good life will go there. Heaven is the kingdom of God, where God is one with everyone and they are one with God. Christians also believe that Jesus is there, sitting at the right hand of His Father. It is impossible for us to know what Heaven and Hell are really like, but most Christians believe we just have to trust God to make the right choice, in his infinite wisdom, and hope that someone who willingly let his son die for us won't condemn all the good people in the world who aren't believers to Hell.

Why do Christians believe you go to heaven or hell when die?

Because Jesus Christ who brought dead people back to life, and who died on the cross and rose from the dead, frequently talked about life after dead as well as Heaven and Hell.
