Jesus EARTHLY heritage was that he was born into the Jewish nation; because of God's promise to Abraham, which started the line of decent towards the foretold promised Messiah.

But Jesus real heritage was heavenly. Jehovah God was his Father. And Jehovah is not Jewish, nor Christian. Jehovah is Jehovah. Anyone that serves Jehovah, would be a Witness of Jehovah God. That Jesus was.

So, Jesus was sent to earth to redeem mankind from the lineage of Adam; and legally adopt those who accepted Jesus, to become sons of God again. Jesus purchased mankind with his blood; and will present mankind to God, once he brings us to the state that Adam, the first earthly son of God was in. Adam was created perfect, without sin. This is where Jesus will bring those of mankind who submit to him.

Incidentally, there are some people of Jewish decent, that have become Christians. But they are still of Jewish decent.

Jewish = BOTH: -- a national heritage; and a religion

Christian = a religion; a method of worhsip; a follower of Jesus; it has nothing to do with national heritage.

Jesus was born into the Jewish nation; but he started a NEW and DIFFERENT religion.

Another way to view it:

It's somewhat like 'brother / sister' relationship. They have the same Father; but the brother is a different person from the sister.

Likewise with Judism and Christianity; they have the same Father.

Judism's Father is Jehovah; and Jesus' Father is also Jehovah. But they are different religions; and they go in different paths.

Just as God favored Abel over Cain; Likewise, Jehovah God has favored his only-begotten son Christ Jesus. When Jesus came out of the water, God said: 'THIS is my Son, the beloved, of whom I have approved.' Thus started a NEW way of WORSHIPING God.

Another Answer:

Why would anyone believe Jesus just because He was born into a people unless they understood the Sceptre Promise to Judah from his father Israel or the promise of Moses, perhaps understanding the 'Key of David' promises or all the prophecies from the beginning. Then yes, Jesus had to be Jewish as salvation is first to the Jews.

But before Jesus became a man and took on the relationship of a Son to the now Father, they were 2 divine beings from eternity. God the Father and God the Word (who later became the Son) have existed for all eternity the Apostle John explains that the Word was with God the Father from the beginning. For someone to be with someone else requires there to be two individuals-not just one.

John 1:1-3New King James Version (NKJV) The Eternal Word1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Jesus was the Old Testament God being who walked in the Garden with Adam and later Eve. He is the only member to have seen the Father and is the Rock as the Apostle Paul noted, as well as Melchizedek:

Hebrews 6:19-21New King James Version (NKJV)

19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presencebehind the veil, 20 where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

But more importantly, Christians believe because He said He was God, of the works that He did in His Father's name, for His sacrifice by His Father's Will, and by faith in Him.

The religious leaders of His day did not want to believe in Him either:

John 10:37-39New King James Version (NKJV)

37 If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me;38 but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him." 39 Therefore they sought again to seize Him, but He escaped out of their hand.

Note:

It is important to note that Christians do not believe in Jesus BECAUSE he was Jewish. They believe in Jesus for the values he spread and who he was and Jesus just happened to be Jewish. This is similar to the idea that American Democrats did not elect Bill Clinton in 1992 BECAUSE he was White. They voted for Bill Clinton because of his political views and his persona and Bill Clinton just happened to be White.

How can the Jews be God's chosen people if they reject Jesus as their Savior?

Jewish people worship the same god as Christians do. Jews believe that the Messiah has not come to Earth yet; Christians believe that Jesus is the Messiah; and Muslims believe Mohammad is the prophet of Alah but was not a holy being. Can jewish people believe in jesus?

NO. Jesus is irrelevant in Judaism. A person who believes in Jesus Christ as a Lord, Savior, or Messiah ceases to be a Jew religiously. The "Jews" who believe in Jesus are Messianic Jews, which is a form of Protestant Christianity which seeks to incorporate Jewish traditions onto a Christian belief substrate. As a result, they believe in Jesus because they are Christians, not Jews.
