Answer 1
They don't. Jews do not identify as African-American, usually because they are Caucasian or Middle Eastern in complexion and originally of Middle-Eastern heritage (not African). When people refer to "Hebrew-Israelite Jews", they are referring to the Black Israelite Churches which are a Christian religion. See Answer 2, which discusses the views of this group.
Answer 2
According to the Black Israelite Churches, Ashkenazi, Khazars, and Sefardi Jews are not the true Jews they are Gentiles, and Edomites (descendants of Japeth, & Esau of The Bible), and they call themselves Jewish because they are not the original Jews. The Tribe of Judah Hebrew-Israelites are in fact the so-called African-Americans of today. The other Jews are the Tribe of Benjamin who are the Caribbeans such as Jamaicans, and Trinidadians, etc. All true Jews are in fact descendants of the Slaves during the Trans-Atlantic slave Ttade, not the Europeans that converted to the Jewish by religion which is why they don't call themselves Jews, but call themselves Jewish.

This is a situation where two Jews yields three opinions. The most common view is that the Jews are a people chosen by God to bring His Will into the real world. Jews do not see themselves as blameless or perfect, but rather as guardians of an important mandate.
Jews are a culture derived from an ancient religion. Many Jews aren't religious but are still part of a culture that identifies themselves as Jews.
They drank cups of tea to make themselves feel better.
Jews do not define themselves by what they oppose, but by what they value and cherish. They value monotheism and ethical behavior.
the only example of this that i can recall is when Jews would turn in other Jews in order to save themselves
1) Jews sought Economic Freedom: Jews could join nearly any profession that they wanted in the United States (relative to Europe where there were numerous professions from which Jews were banned). 2) Jews sought Religious Freedom: Jews in Europe were far less able to practice Judaism without fear. 3) Europe went through many famine periods: Jews, like many other European peasantry, often-times went without food when there were famines and cold spells. They immigrated to America so that they could own their own land and provide for themselves.
No. America fought in WW2, one result of WW2 was to free those Jews who had not already been killed, but the USA did not fight in a war to free Jews.
