Best Answer

Since bananas are the largest crop in Africa and a major crop in South and Central America as well as the Caribbean Islands, I have no idea why they only grow in Southeast Asia.

What part of the world do banana trees grow in?

Bananas grow in humid, tropical regions of the world. They thrive in Honduras, as well as in other Central and South American rainforests and in Africa and Southeast Asia. The word "banana" comes from the Arabic word for "finger." Bananas got this name because they resemble fingers that grow together in long rows, which are called "hands." We call them "bunches."

But although banana plants certainly look like trees, growing up to 30 feet tall, they're really giant shoots, the banana plant is an herb, not a tree! In fact, the banana is the largest plant on earth without a woody stem.

Hawaii Bananas grow in warm, tropical climates, such as South America, Africa, India and the Caribbean. Some varieties of bananas are native to certain areas of the world, for example, plantains are native to India. The only states in the US to grow bananas are Hawaii and Florida, however the crops tend to be small, leaving the US dependent on imported bananas. And they come from plants and minions.
