Because Cats have Instincts. In the wild cats (such as tigers) have to hunt for their food. Most Cats (that share our homes with us) catch Bugs and mice. Its their Insticts to hunt. even though they are domesticated, they will always have some wildness in them :]]

Cats are carnivores. They get all their vital nutrients from their prey. Mice are a good food source for cats as they are in plentiful numbers and are easy to catch. Because of the size difference, mice are also easy to eat. Small bones are very easy to crunch up and digest as opposed to hunting down much larger prey.
