Generally speaking they get fevers for the same reasons that humans do, there is usually some kind of infection going on. Fever is the bodys natural way of killing off the infection but is definitely worth getting checked out.

It is mainly caused by germs that get in your throat and so the hypothalamus tell the body to rise your body tmperature to figth the germs.
