Because they are narcissistic.
He/she picks a partner based on how much narcissist supply that person has to give. It may come in the form of sex, the attention of being with an attractive person (if you're hot), or using that person for something they have like a beach house and the narcissist will be able to go there for free with the mate. A narcissist might choose a mate that is known in the community as successful. Being associated with someone even slightly famous is narcissist supply for them. So if you've got something to give and the narcissist knows it--be it money, sex, adulation, good looks, a beach house, a Paris apartment, celebrity--they'll be all over you.
You should do some serious self analysis to determine why you would try to have an intimate relationship with a person you have described as a narcissist. Hopefully you will eventually decide that you are wasting your time and should move on with your life and find a mate who is capable of caring for and about you as much as you do about him.
A narcissist doesn't feel jealousy, but rather doesn't like losing his prey. He likes control and wants his prey back to continue to abuse and demean his victim. Narcissists have no respect for women whatsoever!

If you believe in soul mates then he should be your husband. Soul-mates are husband material if you see your boyfriend as potential husband material then he could very well be your husband. If your dating your soul-mate you better not let him go.
Even psychiatrists can't answer this question. A Narcissist has a deep core in them that is extremely complex (many things in one) and their behavior is usually learned from their environment (family.) Example: A young man or woman growing up can be over-shadowed by a mother/father that never lets him/her grow up, or a cruel mother/father or one that deserts him/her, thus, he/she begins to hate the opposite sex. A Narcissist is about control and therefore when a woman/man speaks of love for them the Narcissist feels owned or possessed and they don't like the feeling because they need that total control. Narcissist almost always choose submissive type personalities (easier to control and play head games with.) This DOES NOT mean that a shy or loving mate of a Narcissist is weak at all. The Narcissist is simply the preditor and the victim is their prey. Some Narcissists can hate women or vice-versa with a vengence, but then again, many men/women can hate the opposite sex and not be a Narcissist. Some Narcissists adore women and really try to have a normal relationship, but of course it always fails because of the control issue.
livin' things mate! plants!!
There are a number of things that could happen when dwarfs mate. They may or may not have a dwarf child.
My guess would be b/c looking someone in the eyes in this most intimate activity is too much intimacy for a narcissist. They are afraid of intimacy because they fear that their real, false self will be exposed. I am "dating" a narcissist. He claims he is in a long-distance, "committed" relationship with a woman in another state. I know he is because they talk several times on the phone everyday and they travel periodically to meet for vacations. So I'm the mistress although the two are not married. His long-distant partner left her marriage of 23 years + 3 kids to be with this narcissist and he cheats on her. I don't know if she is naive or just looks the other way. This guy is already twice divorced. Narcissists always leave of wake of destruction in their path. I know this and will never allow him truly into my life but I look around him and see that he is Trouble. Anyway, he only makes love to me in the missionary position because I think he likes the power trip of having control over his mate. However, he never looks me in the face. He always buries his head in the pillow so that I cannot see him nor look into his eyes. He never says anything endearing or affectionate to me like a normal guy would during love making.
