It's all about the photons. Light is photons, technically they're a waveform and a particle but for simplicity's sake, let's call it a particle. In order to "see" something, a photon must strike the object, reflect off and strike your eye. The Sun spits out countless photons all the time. Trillions are reflecting into your eyes every moment. At night, with the Sun on the other side of the Earth, not as many reach your eyes, which is why it is dark and you cannot see very well. The reason you can see inside that open room in the day is simply because there are more photons reaching that room and subsequently your eyes. Not to go too off-topic but eyesight at night is more sensitive to photons than in the day, since at night rod cells take over which are much more sensitive to photons than cone cells (Which unfortunately forces us to have little to no color vision at night due to the way rods are "wired"), which is why spending a lot of time in a dark room and suddenly going into an area with a lot of light is quite painful.

Is the solar system dark blue or black?

The solar system, which is largely empty space, would appear overwhelmingly black to an observer outside Earth. There is dust in the solar system, mostly in the plane of the ecliptic, which scatters small amounts of sunlight, and is sometimes visible from Earth at night (zodiacal light, or Gegenschein). During the day the sky appears blue owing to Rayleigh scattering but this effect is limited to our sky and would not be visible outside the atmosphere. One could say some objects inside the solar system have a blue color as seen from space; Earth, Uranus, Neptune, and some moons.
