The height of colonialism was at a time when the civilisations of Western Europe had developed weapons that were so advanced that they were able to put them selves in a position that allowed them to control the activity's and the markets and in the case of slavery the lives of people that had a Les advanced weapons technology. The Basic concept behind it was that you put a Base of your own people in a place where there as lucrative trade or military advantage to be had. This made your country richer more powerful and more influential. Colonies were started to accommodate the smooth and well coordinated looting of the wealth of country's that were not able to defend themselves against powerful colonialist country's.
