Best Answer

Cows are designed to eat as much food as they can than latter slowly chew and digest their food. In the wild they never knew when predators where going to attack, so they would eat and eat filling only the first stomach (the rumen), then they will lay down or rest and regurgitate the food to fully digest, and absorb all of the nutrients and fill all four stomachs.
