In nature and outdoor captivity, red eared sliders swim in water, and then climb on top of rocks to bask in the sun for periods of time. In an indoor tank, red eared sliders swim in the tank and then climb on top of a floating turtledock provided by their owner, and bask in UV-B simulating lamps.
Baby red-eared sliders sleep as much as possible when they are young. In nature, they prefer to sleep on rocks or floating in shallow water.
yes most all turtles do it is the lack of boardom that's like fun to them
If you have sharp or jagged rocks or gravel at the bottom of your tank could be rubbing out on turtle's legs. I suggest that you put some smoother gravel in or just take out the gravel or rocks!
he could climb the fence just like my tutle climbed out of his tank by using the rocks
they can live anywhere. they are reptiles so they live in ponds, slow moving waters. examples on where they live is: Canada Mexico USA japan Denmark new Jersey Coney island parchester Clinton ave. Bronx
from rocks underground
usually medium to large gravel. Youll want to have gravel that is bigger than they can swallow (bigger than their head) If you stick to that, that gravel should be fine. I would recommend river rocks, as those are very inexpensive and look great.
Well, I have two red-eared sliders. And I just fill their tank with a lot of small rocks since I go to the beach sometimes, and I have so many rocks in my backyard. You don't have to do that, but then the "droppings" and food that's not eaten would sink to the floor and your turtle(s) would be swimming in it. If you have rocks, sometimes those things are buried underneath. I also have like small "trees" for decorations, and a shallow rock. If your turtle(s) are big and you realize the tank is REALLY dirty when you clean it, you should get a bigger tank or clean it more often. I clean mine 3-4 days and by then, it's really dirty. Well I hope this helped! If you have any more "caring for turtles" questions, just ask me!
If it is the hill with the mansion on top of it, you climb the rocks.
a turtle is a great pet to help teach you responsibility and commitment. i would suggest getting a red eared slider. it would also be great to get at least two because they tend to get lonely and play with their reflections from their tanks ( or hide n corners). red eared sliders are known for sliding off of smooth surfaces like rocks. they love to eat baby shrimp and have a red streak on each side of their head.
