The nose bleeds are most likey caused by the extreamly dry and usually very cold air found at high climates and as far as shortness of breat, the air is less dence at high altitude...to put it simply if you had 100 "peices" of air in 1 cup at sea level, then you might only have 50 "peices" in 1 cup at 10,000 ft....i hope that makes sense.
