Bolts might come loose from the transmission pan while you are driving your 1987 Ford Aerostar because they have not been torqued to specified tightness. They might also come loose because the bolts are not the right size or are worn.
You need to check the u-joints in the driveshaft first ,if it vibrates when driving. If it does it setting still, then could be a loose are cracked fly-wheel, Transmission bolts loose were it bolts to the back of the engine block. A bad coolant fan, Bent or broken blade. Check these things and if everything is okay, Then ask your question again.
It has 6 bolts holding it to the engine. It has 3 maybe 4 torque converter bolts that need to be removed too. There are 2 line-up pins in the back of the block that go into the transmission. If you can't get the trans loose from the engine then I would say those pins are frozen in the transmission bell housing. You will just need to PRY the transmission loose from the engine. It is stuck on the pins.
It could posibly be a bad transmission mount or a universal joint on the drive shaft or even maybe loose torque converter bolts
Hi, the trans front pump bolts have become loose. but if it has been slipping for a while then tigntening the bolts will not help you will have to replace it.
If the torque converter is loose it can do alot of damage to the transmission too. My ex- had to replace the transmission because the bolts were not put in correctly when someone else had changed something out. He had to put in a new transmission and torque converter. If it is running too rough you may have to change it all out. Check the bolts first to make sure everything is tight. If it is then you'll probably need new trany and torque converter.
These are the things that I can think of at the moment...Bad tire/rim,wheel bearing,tie-rod end, balljoint, control arm bushing/or loose bolts, rack and pinion bushing, loose lower strut bolts, worn upper strut bushing/loose bolts. What Im trying to say is that its hard to tell without looking at the car itself.
Loose wire? I recommend asking this question specifying if you have manual or automagic transmission.
I just had this problem with mine, and it was a loose nut on the linkage. There is also a brackett held on by the transmission pan bolts, they were loose too. After tightening all these up it shifts fine again now.
If ALL the bolts are out, then the only thing holding it on is the glue on the gasket. Two options, take a dead-blow or rubber hammer and rap the side of the pan, usually that will break it loose, if not, use a chisel between the pan and the bottom of the transmission, but tap in gently. Incidentally, before you attempt either of these, put a couple of bolts back in loosely, or when the pan comes loose, you will have one hell of a mess!
you must unbolt the transmission pan. leave 2 loose bolts in 1 side so you can drop the other side to drain the fluid . then remove pan. replace automatic tranny filter and put the new gasket on . put the pan back on then tighten bolts to specs...
Check your motor mounts, exhaust heat sheilds, and anything else that could be rubbing metal to metal. Check for loose bolts. Check for loose front end parts.
external front of trans the big plug 8mm and 3 10mm bolts hold it on jar it loose
