Why do the doubloons always disappear when you earn money on Skullduggery Island?

The doubloon count does not reflect a "score", but rather a "bank account". When you sell salvage or cargo, the "cash" (doubloons) goes up. When you buy cargo to carry from an island, you spend doubloons, and your "cash" goes down.
If your ship is sunk by a pirate, creature, or other feature (storm, reef, whirlpool), you lose 10% of your total doubloons and either 10% or 13% of the cargo onboard. This means you are often better off buying the next larger ship (or crew) before cannon fights -- you will have less cash to lose (and possibly more cannons to use).

Then skipping the Steaming-Fury, buy the Phoenix Warbirdfor $977, 500. Then, earn $67,000 buying your ship a crew, which will be simple with your newest ship. Hope this helps!

You never do kill him : he always escapes. When you have the most powerful ship (Phoenix Warbird), the Shipwright and the Cannoneer, sail around the new island, Skullduggery, and the recognizable ship of Captain Crawfish will attack. If you are able to reduce his ship's "health" to zero, he sails away in defeat. Then you can return to Fort Ridley and get the shovel and treasure location.

No, they do not.Most players will not repay their last loan, which can be up to 500,000 doubloons to buy a Phoenix Warbird. Since the only penalty for not repaying an overdue loan is that you cannot buy a larger ship, you would not be affected at all.You should always pay back a loan as soon as you can because you pay 5%interest for every "day" up to 20 days. However, since a "day" only passes when you leave one island and arrive at a different one, you can limit the number of days that pass as well (leave an island, collect salvage, and go back).

You will lose some of your doubloons if you are sunk. Generally, the sea creatures attack at the left of and above Dragon Cove. So once you have 2 or more cannon, you can hunt them there. Note that smaller ships will fill the cargo completely with just one creature. Beware of multiple attacks by creatures and ships.---You normally earn doubloons on Skullduggery Island in two ways.The first is by "salvage" when you come across random floating items in the sea. These are more numerous around sunken ships. Collecting them, however, is not without peril because sea monsters and pirate ships are more likely to attack the longer you spend away from an island.
