A constitution is a body of fundamental principles or established precedents according to which a state or other organization is acknowledged to be governed.

We need a constitution because without it the state or country would be in a state of anarchy and also the government would be disorderly. A constitution protects our freedoms.

Canada is considered a constitutional monarchy because Her Majesty the Queen of Canada is head of State. The Queen (represented by the Governor General) exercises executive functions only on the advice of the prime minister (the head of Government) and ministers, who are responsible to the House of Commons.

Canadians have a constitutional monarchy because Her Majesty the Queen of Canada is the Canadian monarch and the Canadian head of State. Rather than the sort of radical independence movement that many nations have had, Canadians became independent of the United Kingdom through negotiations and diplomacy, retaining the Queen in a role as head of State entirely independent of the Queen's role elsewhere.

Because Canada is a sovereign nation that is "advanced" enough to give basic rights to it's citizens. The Constitution of Canada was not fully in place until 1982, but there were other documents dating back to the Treaty of Paris in 1763, that gave rights and liberties to people living in British colonies.
