Democracies will find it difficult to exist without political party but its utility will ever remain uncertain. The government will not be accountable to the people and different individuals make take up selfish motives much against the interest and welfare of the people. Villagers cannot unite without political party. Candidates will find it difficult to contest elections.

We don't need political parties. Several countries (Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland) and the Canadian areas the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, as well as Nunatsiavut, an autonomous area in the province of Newfoundland and Labrad) have Consensus Governments.

A consensus government is one in which all members are essentially Independents (free of political alliance). Once elected by plurality of the constituents in their electoral areas they meet and decide which of the members will take on various official roles.

They run the government by developing common goals supported by a majority of the members without concern for conformity to party lines.

The system woks as well as party based politics.
