JFK was young looking with a good looking family. Pictures of him playing football and sailing were seen while LBJ looked old and tired. JFK didn't like LBJ but took him as his Vice President because LBJ was a powerful leader in congress and from Texas. Until the assassination LBJ wasn't seen too much.

There could be several reasons why most Americans viewed John F. Kennedy more favorably than Lyndon B. Johnson. One reason could be that Kennedy's presidency was cut short due to his assassination, which left a lingering sense of fascination and idealism around his legacy. Additionally, Kennedy was known for his charisma, youthfulness, and ability to inspire the nation with his vision of a new frontier, while Johnson was often associated with the controversies surrounding the Vietnam War.
