Because it was promised by God. He promised it to the Israelites(Genesis 26:1-5). Answer: Because God saw the Israelites were suffering in Egypt (Exodusch.1). That is why He gave them the Promised Land (Exodus ch.3) andcalled them His people.
Yes. According to the Bible, God promised the Land of Israel to Abraham and his descendants, the Israelites, in Genesis 17: . 8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their Go…d. 9 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.. According to Genesis, the descendants of Abraham were the Israelites and the Arabs. That could lead one to conclude that the land was promised to the Israelites and also to the Arabs. The biblical promise, though, seems to be related specifically to Isaac (in Genesis 26:3) and Jacob, a.k.a. Israel (in Genesis 28:13 and Joshua 1:1-6). Answer #2 The above was made void, because of Leviticus. 3rd Book of Moses. For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith . For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void , and the promise made of none effect: [ROMANS 4:13-14.] Law are only required by those whom lack FAITH! ( Full Answer )

Any piece of land that the Lords sends His people to stay for a while. The Promised Land for the Jews, which will be their final home, has always been Israel or Palestine as it is called now. The part of Palestine they occupy at present is but a small portion of what they will finally own. Their h…omeland will stretch from the borders of Egypt to at least 100 miles past Damascus. IT will be 100 miles at it widest boarder. Answer: The "Promised Land" is the "material" portion of the two-fold agreement [covenant] that God made with Abraham. The "spiritual" portion was that "all the families of the earth would be blessed" through Abraham by his faith [better known as "salvation in Christ"]. God sent Abraham to Canaan and established this region for the inheritance of his descendants. However... through the eventual salvation of all the nations of the world through Christ... the tiny tract of land in the Middle East becomes too small to handle the population of many generations of mankind. "...I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore..." (Gen.22:17). So the ultimate expanse of the "Promised Land" is described this way in the Bible: "...For the Promise , that he should be THE HEIR OF THE WORLD , was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith." (Rom.4:13) And for all that... even the world could not contain all the generations that number as the stars of heaven and the sand in the sea. In the end, therefore, the " entire universe " becomes the inheritance of "God's Children"... the recipients of His salvation. "He that overcometh shall INHERIT ALL THINGS ; and I will be his God, and he shall be My son." (Rev.21:7) " All things " means " everything that is "... and must include " the universe "... or it becomes meaningless. We are told that Jesus has been: "... appointed Heir of ALL THINGS ..." (Heb.1:2). He has inherited all of His Father's possessions . And since His Father owns the universe and everything in it -- Jesus has inherited the universe. And as His "brothers" [God's Children]... those who shall receive the Promised "blessing" of "salvation" shall also inherit the universe with Christ. "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the CHILDREN OF GOD : and if Children, then Heirs ; Heirs of God , and JOINT-HEIRS WITH CHRIST ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we MAY BE ALSO GLORIFIED TOGETHER." (Rom.8:16-17) The Land Promised to Abraham and his children far exceeds what most men have not even begun to imagine. There is "land" out there in space... untold planets... that is the number of the "stars of heaven"... that is the number of Abraham's "faithful" seed. "Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham... And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and HEIRS according to the Promise ." (Gal.3:7 & 29) "... these Words are TRUE and FAITHFUL ... He that overcometh shall INHERIT ALL THINGS ; and I will be his God, and he shall be My son." (Rev.21:5-7) The "Promised Land" is "the universe." ( Full Answer )

The Land of Canaan called the land flowing with 'milk and honey' -a metaphor generally accepted to mean a land of all good things.Today it is primarily the nation state of Israel: Exodus 3:17 New International Version (NIV) . 17 And I havepromised to bring you up out of your misery in Egypt i…nto the landof the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites andJebusites-a land flowing with milk and honey.' . Another perspective: The term " Promised Land "takes on whole new parameters when " Faith " isintroduced into the biblical equation. While the " land of Canaan " is mentioned repeatedlyregarding the inheritance of the immediate " blooddescendants " of Abraham [the twelve nation-tribes of hisgrandson, Jacob] -- when the " second Spiritualpart " of God's Promise to Abraham is figured in[ the Promise of SALVATION through Jesus Christ throughFAITH ; God's " blessing of ALL THE FAMILIES OF THEEARTH ;" all the nations on earth - Gen.12:3]... borderlinessuddenly disappear. These " Faithful Children " who become " adopted intofather Abraham's family ," not through his blood, but by FAITHIN THE BLOOD OF CHRIST, are said to number as the " stars in thesky " and " as the number of grains of sand on theseashore " [Gen.15:5 & 22:17]. "The REAL children of Abraham, then, are all those who put their Faith in God .What's more, the Scriptures looked forward to this time when Godwould accept the Gentiles, too, on the basis of their FAITH. GodPromised this Good News to Abraham long ago when He said, 'Allnations will be Blessed though you.' And so it is: All who puttheir Faith in Christ share the same Blessing Abraham receivedbecause of his Faith." (Gal.3:7-9 NLT NewLiving Translation ) "And now that you belong to Christ , you are the TRUE CHILDREN OF ABRAHAM . Youare his heirs, and now all the Promises God gave tohim [LAND and SALVATION] belong toyou ." (verse 29) With this shocking biblical news... suddenly, the tiny stretch ofland called " Canaan " becomes grossly inadequate to holdall the generations of the families of the earth that have livedand died since Adam. So it is, then, that the "LAND" that God Promises Abraham's" Faithful " descendants as their inheritance, ultimatelybecomes the UNIVERSE. And it begins, like a tiny grain of mustardseed in the LAND of Canaan, only to grow and expand across thelength and breadth of Canaan's planet -- the LAND called EARTH ! "It is clear, then, that God's Promise to GIVE THEWHOLE EARTH TO ABRAHAM and his [Faithful] descendantswas not based on obedience to God's Law, but on the newrelationship with God that comes by FAITH." (Rom.4:13 NLT ) "God blesses those who are gentle and lowly, for THE WHOLEEARTH WILL BELONG TO THEM ." (Matt.5:5 NLT ) "...The WHOLE WORLD has now become the Kingdom of our LORD and ofHis Christ, and He will reign forever and ever." (Rev.11:15 NLT ) As fertile as man's imagination may be... few people seem to knowabout, or are able to believe what is written in the Bibleregarding the " LAND " that God Promised Abraham and his Faithfulchildren. The seed of the Promise was planted in the LAND of Canaan... theLAND surrounding Jerusalem , the apple of God's eye[Zech.2:8]... and the future throne of God's Kingdom on earth.Jerusalem, in the midst of the Land of Canaan is the focal pointfrom which the Bible looks out on the world... and the planetsbeyond. The " Promised Land " beginsthere... but the Promises of God and all the LAND He has made, stretches out into the limitless universe, which few people onearth suspect that they shall one day inherit. Most people don't realize that Jesus Christ has already inherited" all things " [the Universe]; HisBirthright, being the Firstborn Son of His Father, inheriting allof His Father's possessions [which is, again, the Universe]: "...in these final days, He [the Father in heaven] has spoken to usthrough His Son. God promised EVERYTHING to the Son asan inheritance , and through the Son He MADE THEUNIVERSE and everything in it." (Heb.1:2 NLT New Living Translation ) [same verse; Weymouth's New Testament - WEY ]: "God... has at the end of these days spokento us through a Son, who is the pre-destined Lord ofthe Universe , and through whom He made the Ages." It is the Son of God, who has inherited theUniverse , who shall SHARE HIS INHERITANCE with allthe other FAITHFUL CHILDREN OF HIS FATHER! [beginning with God'sPromise to the father of the Faithful, Abraham] The " Promised Land ." "For His Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells usthat WE ARE GOD's CHILDREN . And since weare His Children, we will SHARE HISTREASURES - for everything God gives His Son, Christ, IS OURS , TOO .But if we are to share His Glory, we must also share His suffering.Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the Glory He willgive us later. For ALL CREATION ISWAITING [the whole universe] eagerly for that futureday when God will reveal who His Children really are." (Rom.8:16-19 NLT ) In this world where Faith is at a spiritual premium, few peoplesuspect that the " Promised Land " isultimately known in the Bible as the" Universe ." "...when I, the Son of Man, return, how many will I find who have FAITH ?" (Luke 8:8 NLT ) ( Full Answer )

The US acquired the Philippines as a result of the Spanish-AmericanWar of 1898. That war was egged on by the newspapers of the day,the Hearst and Pulitzer chains of newspapers in many cities, inflaming the people of the US to war fever with daily storiesdetailing the alleged atrocities of the Spanish… colonial masters inCuba. There had been an on-again off-again independence movement inCuba for thirty years or so, aided by US citizens making a profitsmuggling in guns to these rebels. Cuba was the last remainingSpanish colony in this hemisphere. Cuba had also been coveted bysome in the US for an even longer period of years, who wanted toadd Cuba as a US possession. So when the war was finally made areality, Congress passed the Platt Amendment forbidding the USgovernment from retaining Cuba as a US possession. The USgovernment at the time was under a Republican Administration, andthis was Republicans of the faction that favored "expansion", whichwas the preferred term in the US for imperialism, because thepeople of the US did not like to think of themselves as being thesame greedy grasping sort of people as the Europeans, who were busyat that very time carving up Africa into colonies, and makinginroads into China and Asia. So, after what one Republican in theMcKinley Administration called a "splendid little war", Spain wasejected from Cuba, which then according to the Platt Amendment hadto made "free", although its freedom basically amounted to USoverlordship. There was nothing in the Platt Amendment concerningPuerto Rico, or the Philippine Islands, however. So, to this day,the US still has Puerto Rico, the people of which island were madeUS citizens in 1917. In the Philippines the US had received helpfrom the Philippine Independence movement in 1898, to beat theSpaniards there and eject them from this colony that Spain had heldfor more than 300 years. These Filipinos quite naturally expectedthat they would also be granted their freedom immediately. Theywere aware of the existence of the "anti-imperialist" movement inthe US. These were people who thought their American nation hadabsolutely no business going into the sordid, greedy arrogance ofacquiring an Empire, given that the US itself started as rebellingcolonies fighting for their own freedom from a colonial master. These anti-imperialists believed that the US acquiring colonies andoverseas possessions (such as Hawaii, "annexed" around the sametime, at the behest of and to better secure a favorable businessenvironment for the Dole Pineapple Company) was a complete andtotal betrayal of the original honorable principles of the US,regarding personal freedom and self-determination. The Filipinoshoped that the anti-imperialists in the US would be able to carrythe day, and persuade their fellow citizens to remain true to theoriginal ideas of America. Sadly, this proved not to be the case. The US offered excuses, such as that for three centuries theSpaniards had done nothing to educate the Filipinos, there weremore than one thousand islands in the group and around one thousanddifferent languages or dialects spoken there, and in thesedisunited and uneducated conditions the US could find no one towhom the government of the Philippines could be entrusted. Anotherexcuse for retaining the Philippines was that if the US did grantthe Philippines immediate independence in 1898, another of thecolonial powers, such as Japan, Britain or Germany, would certainlyimmediately swoop in and make the Philippines a colony, and thiswas probably true enough. So for three years the US fought a littleremembered war against the Filipino patriots seeking their ownindependence, a war replete with atrocities and massacres. Andafter that was brutally more or less won there was the MoroInsurrection, requiring more slaughter of Filipinos, these beingthe Muslim inhabitants of mostly the more southern islands. Thereal reason the Republicans so loved their new colony was that theythought it was going to secure, along with Hawaii, the path to Asiafor trade, which they coveted, in their lust for commerce. Butthese horrific slaughters of Filipinos and this grotesqueabomination of the US possessing colonies never set well with allthe people of the US. By the 1930s the Philippines had been granted"Commonwealth" status, with a plan for eventual independence, whichwas forestalled by the Japanese invasion of December, 1941. TheJapanese, expansionist militarists that they were in 1941, andcompletely unashamed of their desire to dominate all theirneighbors, would probably have invaded the Philippines in any case, but the reason they invaded when they did was because they were aUS possession, and there were US air and naval bases in thePhilippines, from which US forces could sally forth to interferewith Japanese plans for conquest. By now many Republicans, as usualcompletely unaware of their own hypocrisy, were "isolationists",wanting the US to stay out of world affairs, and wanting theopposite of whatever the Democratic Administration of Rooseveltwanted. So the US was drawn into WWII as a direct result of theImperialist Republican greed for Empire of the 1890s, which got theUS possession of Hawaii and the Philippines, possession of whichwas the reason Japan attacked US forces in those places on December7, 1941. Most Republicans are still too stupid by far to this veryday to appreciate the irony. ( Full Answer )
