your tranny is going out sorry to say same thing happen to me get it check can be costy if dont get it looked at to soon look into spending 1200+ for a new one with labor to get it put in your gears are slipping
at about 6000 rpms
Because you have to step on the brake pedal to get it out of park, doofus!
It's probably set at a certain rpm, but should be adjustable.
If I'm not mistaken, it appears that your truck is a "manual transmission"? There would be no indicator light - you shift into first gear, and then as you approve about 10 or 15 mph you would shift to second. I recommend the "learning manual transmission for dummies" - actually a very well written instruction book on learning how to shift.
The transmission will not shift properly if you try to disable the odometer. The check engine light and abs light will also come on.
If the shifter will not come out of park, check the brake light fuse. The shifter release solenoid uses the brake light switch to unlock the shifter.
It is possible. You need to check the codes to know for sure.
The yellow shift light is programmed to come on at optimum rpms to get best economy from engine. Nothing will happen except bad fuel milage.
Remove the shifting console cover. Remove the shifting light retaining ring. Push the light bulb in and turn at the same time. The light bulb will come out. Reverse the process install the new light bulb.
The orange light is used for a 'shift' signal. It means 'shift into the next gear now'. If your tachometer/rev counter has an adjustable setting for this light, you can set it to come on when you're at peak horsepower or torque and want to shift into the next gear. This comes in handy for getting the best performance out of your vehicle's engine while drag racing. It can also be set up to remind you to shift at a lower rev than normal to help you save fuel.
If the light for the gear shift on the console does not work on a 2002 Toyota Camry, it is probably a burned out bulb. The console will need to come off to access the bulb to change it. This part is held onto the console area by screws.
the check engine light will come on and off and the vehicle will not shift through all the gears properly
