Probably a leaky FPR diaphragm or bad MAP sensor reading.
If bad FPR diaphragm replace the fuel pressure regulator. This will also fix the misfiring, excessive fuel consumption, catalytic converter burning up, and rapid engine wear.
If MAP sensor, replace sensor and/or hose to sensor. May also fix: check engine light on, hesitation on acceleration.
beside the drivers seat...on the floor
Look to the left side of the driver's seat on the floor. There should be a lever between the seat and the door sill.
is the floor wet under the seats??? if the sir (air bag module) get wet and and crusty....it drags down the uart data line.....(the line that all the computers talk to each other)to ground.....look at that
I had the same problem with 2 cavaliers of mine ( which are basically the same as a sunfire) and my suggestion is the head gasket is bad or u have a cracked head most likely in between the valves.
this is a GT with floor shift and 3800 engine
Try putting the pedal to the floor while cranking it
This may or may not help. My '96 has an interior trunk release lever located on the floor between the driver's seat and the door sill. I don't know how long Pontiac located the release there.
Have you looked on the floor between the driver's seat and the door sill? That's where it is on my '96. thanks for trying, but no there is nothing between seat and door sill
just taking a shot in the dark but is that supposed to read where is the heater core really located on the 1996 Pontiac sunfire??if so its located under the dash of the car, towards the floor board behind the heat exchanger box..if you are asking where the heater core relay is ,,well there is no such thing so need to ask where this is.
I don't know if this will be any help or not .. my car is a couple of years newer than yours. My trunk release is a lever located on the floor between the driver's seat and the door sill. Maybe your's is similar? FriPilot
When you say that the gas pedal is to the floor, I'm guessing that you mean this is what you have to do to keep her running. It kind of sounds like you might have a blown head gasket. Check for water in your oil. FriPilot
Um, somebody took it? Seriously, I'm guessing that you mean it goes to the floor with no resistance? We need a little more info here, please. FriPilot Is this car equipped with an automatic transmission? 1. Check to see if the clutch cable is broken or disconnected
