Why does a 94 mx3 1.6L hesitate when you bring the rpm's up to 35000 to shift diagnostic said 02 sensor replaced it but problem continues?

i had this problem when i first bought my 94 mx3. i was messin around with it alittle bit and my problem was that it wasnt getting enough air. i replaced the air filter and there was some hole in the intake tube. so i taped them up and the problem stopped. so you can give that a try. cheap and easy.
