I'll bet it's your fan. I had this same problem in my car, and the fan was going bad. Have someone check it out. You can get a replacement fan from a junkyard pretty cheap if you want to save money. If not, call your local auto zone, or one of those stores and ask them to get one for you. They're not too expensive. You could take it to a community college that has mechanics classes and ask one of the students to install it for you at a discounted cost, or maybe in free if you supply the part. Best of luck, it's cold out.

What makes a car squeal when sitting still and make a ringing noise when driving?

Most likely it is a belt on your car. Usually the squeeling is from a loose belt while idling and will also make noises while driving.

Why would the heater blow warmhot air while driving but cold air when sitting still?

Possibly defective thermostat. It sounds like it is opening up a bit with increased pressure caused by higher engine revs - when idling, the pressure decreases and the thermostat valve closes. Just a thought, anyway.

Why does your Dodge Ram 1500 blow cold air when sitting still and blows hot air while driving?

thermostat probably damaged or stuck....and worse case scenario....your heater core is going out.

Why does the engine cooling fan run on high speed after engine has been idling?

because when car is sitting still and at idle you do not have "air flow" coming into radiator to help cool it as you do when you are driving. So fan compensates for this higher engine - antifreeze temperature to try and cool it off it has to work harder.

Why will a car not blow hot air when sitting still only when driving?

On some cars this is because of the heater circuit design, in that if there is air in the cooling system it can gather in the heater core when at idle, and allow substantially less, if any, heat exchange. When the engine RPM goes up, as when driving, the air gets forced out of the heater core by the fast moving coolant and you have heat again. If this is your problem the solution is to bleed the cooling system on that vehicle, per manufacturer's instructions.

Why is it called a drivethrough if you have to stop?

because you are still sitting iny our car instead of walking you are driving

No matter how long it's idling it NEVER gets warm until I start driving at which time I still cannot see anything why won't my car warm up and defrost in the am until I start driving?

It is possible the thermostat is stuck open.

Why does your 1993 mercury topaz water temperature run so cool while driving but overheats if sitting still?

Check the electric fan to see if it is working.

If the thermostat on a 1996 Ford Windstar has been replaced but it still only blows cold air and the gauge rises above half when sitting still what could be wrong?

I would expect a plugged heater core.Take your hand and feel the two heater hoses that pass thru the firewall on the passenger side; if one is hot and the other is much cooler, than you heater core is plugged and needs replacement.
