Assuming you mean not start. The starter motor or its wiring could be dead/faulty.

Assuming the battery always ends up flat, a power leak somewhere.. ie something is being left on or shorting. Remove the fuses one by one till you notice a spark at the fuse, clocks will give a tiny spark a larger spark is what you are looking for. That circuit is draining power. Using an amp meter instead of the each fuse would be the best way of course.

It could also be bad alternator wiring.

What do car batteries run?

-- Answer -- The battery in a car runs ALL the electrical systems in that car. The alternator only charges the battery. If you run a car without the battery in place you will ruin the alternator. Phil

Can you start and move a car without battery?

The battery is used when the car is running to stabilize the voltage and store energy from the alternator. It is not recommended to run the car with no battery, as this can damage the alternator and the car's electrical system.A dead battery (if you have one) can usually suffice to run the car for a short time, however it may also damage the alternator.

I have a 1997 Isuzu Rodeo I just had a new battery installed in my car and alternator and belts. The car will run for about a half of a day but then it will not start again. What could be wrong?

The alternator either has to be a factory original or a used off of a parts Rodeo, otherwise the alternator will not run.

Your 1997 Mazda 626 will not start after an alternator malfunction why?

Battery will be flat because spark plugs were running straight off your battery because the alternator was not charging your battery as you were driving. You can test this by jump starting your car with another car and after your car is running you should be able to disconnect your battery and car should still run off the alternator. Does the alternator run when you have the car started and in park?

Yes, as long as the engine is running, so is the alternator. The alternator is actually what keeps the car battery charged.

Will battery lose power if alternator is bad?

Yes, the job of the alternator is to recharge the battery and run all the electronics when the car is in use. If the alternator is defective and not putting out the required voltage to keep the battery charged it will soon run down.

What if you clean terminals on car battery and give it a jump and still dies out?

battery and or alternator are shot, check alternator by starting the car, and removing either the positive or negative battery cable,,, if the vehicle continues to run the alternator is good.

Shoud engine run after disconecting battery?

No, because you need a battery to run your car. Doing so can ruin the alternator.

How do I know if if my car battery or alternator is dead?

Fully charge the battery Check with a voltmeter (should read approx. 12.8 volts without engine running) With engine running and good alternator reading should be 13.8-14.2 if the battery is dead the car wont start. replace the battery (preferably with a new one) run the car and if it dies or wont crank again its the alternator (or possibly the alternator belt is slipping)

Will a car run if the alternator is bad?

It would only run as long as the battery had a sufficient charge.

Why would an a New ReManufacturered Alternator Drain New Car Battery?

It won't. Look for a light that is on or a stuck relay. Also a dead cell in the battery will cause it to run down overnight.
