The reason any manual gearbox jumps out of any particular gear is down to too much clearence between the teeth on the sliding hub and the teeth on the particular gear usually caused by wear which is sometimes due to poor lubrication
sycronizer probably going out since that gear is primary when gearing down from 5th
Sounds like you've got worn out syncros on the 5th gear. ~ Tim ~
because you need a new gear box
You probably have synchronizer problems. More than likely 5th gear is also difficult since 5th and reverse share the same synchronizer. Whatever the case, someone will have to go into the tranny to fix it.
Because you're NOT supposed to be in 5th gear at 35mph.
Ford 5R55S Automatic 5 Speed Transmission 1st gear 3.22 to 1 2nd gear 2.29 to 1 3rd gear 1.55 to 1 4th gear 1.00 to 1 5th gear .71 to 1 (This is a late model Ford Mustang Transmission) * not to be confused with 5R55E, 5R55N, 5R55W they have different gear ratios
Check fluid level, (90 weight oil)
I think you mean the shifting pattern? 1st gear- far left and up 2nd gear- far left and down 3rd gear- middle and up 4th gear- middle and down 5th gear- far right and up reverse gear- far right and down.
Sounds like transmission needs to be overhauled
