Answer ABoth believe in a single God, called HaShem by the Jews and Allah by Muslims. Biggest difference is that Islam follows the teachings of Prophet Mohammad from his holy book the Quran (Koran). Jews continue to follow the teachings of the Tanach and do not recognize the Quran as a holy book. Another difference is that Islam teaches that it is a good thing to let people know about Islam religion and its fundamentals such that they can make their choice of faith on sound grounds and correct information. Judaism does not teach that. Instead, Jews actually make it difficult to convert to Judaism and require anywhere from 1-6 years of study so that a potential convert has full knowledge and understanding of what they are committing to before the convert. Answer BSince Judaism predates Islam by approximately 2000 years, the real question is how does Islam differ from Judaism.

Examples of ways that Islam is different from Judaism are:

  • Islam believes in the existence of the devil and hell, Judaism doesn't believe in the existence of either.
  • Islam accepts both Jesus and Muhammad as prophets while Judaism doesn't accept either.
  • Islam's main religious text is the Qu'ran which isn't considered a valid religious text for Jews according to the teachings of Judaism.
  • Islam forbids the consumption or handling of any items that come from a pig while in Judaism, pigs are just one of countless animals that are not allowed as food animals.
  • Islam forbids the consumption of alcohol in any form while Judaism uses certain alcoholic drinks as part of worship and does not prohibit the consumption of any alcohol unless it doesn't meet the requirements of the Jewish dietary laws.

Additionally, one of the most fundamental differences between Islam and Judaism is that Islam calls for submission to G-d. In direct contrast, Judaism requires its followers to always question everything, the basis for this being the many times in the Tanach (Jewish Bible) that the prophets argued with G-d.

Muslim Perspective Just two comments on the good information under Answer B above:
  1. Islam in its root sense means full submission to God (same God in Judaism and Christianity). In this context, Islam dates back to the universe creation date and was the message of all God prophets since Adam through Noah,..., Abraham,..., Moses, ..., Jesus, and Muhammad; peace be upon them. However, Islam per Torah revelation to Moses is called Judaism, Islam per Bible revelation to Jesus is called Christianity, and Islam per Quran revelation to Muhammad is called same name Islam.
  2. Pig; is in Judaism; is forbidden as food animal and nothing else. For example surgery threads may be fabricated from pig tissues and used by Muslim physicians and patients.

Simple answer: Judaism is the oldest religion of the three Abrahamic faiths. Christianity came out of Judaism just over 2 000 years ago. Islam started just over 1 000 years ago. When Islam started, they took some beliefs of Judaism and some from Christianity.
