because the stock stereo sends a signal to the stock factory amplifier, removing the stereo has probably left the amplifier in a constant on mode therefore it is always drawing power. you can check this once you find the amp . on the wagon it is located in the bck drivers corner behind where the cd changer goes.
could be the alternator. could be the battery, the alternator charges the battery but does not stop the battery holding a charge.could also be a bad starter motor. take alternator off and have it tested. most places will test for free
Sounds like your charging system isn't working and you are running off battery power until the battery goes dead. Have the battery and the charging system tested to determine what part is at fault.
Check to make sure the battery cable connections are clean and tight. Have the battery load tested. Test the charging system output. It takes at least 13.5 volts to charge a 12 volt battery.
You should pull the battery and have it tested. If it tests ok, pull the alternator and have it tested. Most auto parts stores have the equipment to test these and there should be no charge for the test.
Try removing the battery cables and cleaning both terminals as well as the cable connectors. Try to test the electrical continuity of the cables, one may be broken inside it's insulation, making it invisible. Have the battery itself tested, it is not uncommon for a battery (especially an older one) to just quit.
Take a battery from each different battery type (prefferably three). Leave those out in the same conditions as the ones being tested when the one being tested is determined "dead", take a voltmeter and compare the control battery with the tested battery.
Have your battery tested first, if it is good most likely it is a bad alternator, have that tested as well
I've got the same problem currently. Had the starter tested, ok. New battery. alternator ok. ??????? I'll keep trying Check that the earth lead on the battery is clean and secured where it is bolted to the chassis.
The old 'tried and tested' method - of removing & re-installing the battery ! Killing all power to the phone will force it to stop whatever it's doing wrong !
What else is in the system? Was the battery charged and tested when the new alternator was put in? A new alternator can blow out if it is trying to charge a "Bad" battery. Was it a new alternator that was tested by a shop? It is possible it is a factory defect. If it was done by a shop I would take it back to the shop. It is also possible that there is a wire off or grounding that is draining the system. Have you installed a stereo amplifier? Some amplifiers draw more current than the car can provide.
Have the battery tested at any auto parts store.
Dead cell in the battery or something is on pulling power from the battery. Have the battery tested at any auto parts store.
