i am having the same problem with my 92 civic cx, it rev limits ar 5.5k most the time sometimes lower.. several ecus tried....new distributor, wires, plugs.. timings been checked... i need to fix this

It will if you are free reving the engine with out it being in gear. If you are driving it hard down the road and it is kicking in then you may need to have the engine scanned with an OBDII engine scanner and make sure you don't have a problem in the system.
You do not get rid of the speed limiter. It is in the engine control computer and you would have to have it reprogrammed.
they are limited to 130 or 135 but sofware exists to remove the limiter, depends on which engine is in it, an R or T5 can do 150 with the limiter removed

i have the same problem, i change, new ecu, new throttle body, rev limiter 7000 rpm my car is ok! rev limiter 7900rpm pops the code17953/P1545/005445doesnt go more than 2500rpm, ihave to shut the engine of and started again !! some says that is the chiptuning i did, some others electrikal problem!!
